World-renowned Nobel laureate economist Dr. Muhammad Yunus recently highlighted the economic and environmental significance of Cox’s Bazar in a speech delivered in the Chattogram dialect.

At a conference in Chattogram, he said, "Cox’s Bazar is an invaluable asset of Asia; we must take care of it, or else we will lose everything." According to him, Cox’s Bazar, the world’s longest sea beach, is not just a tourist destination but also crucial for Bangladesh’s economy, environmental conservation, and international investment.

He Emphasized the Importance of Cox’s Bazar

Dr. Yunus stated that sustainable development plans should be implemented, keeping in mind the natural beauty and ecological importance of Cox’s Bazar. He specifically pointed out the potential for marine resources and the growth of the tourism industry.

He further added, "If we preserve the sea and beach of Cox’s Bazar, international business will grow, income will increase, and more jobs will be created."

Call for Environmental Protection

Dr. Yunus also expressed concern about the environmental threats facing Cox’s Bazar. He warned that plastic pollution, unregulated tourism, and unplanned urbanization are harming the area’s natural balance.

He stated, "If we do not stop plastic pollution, Cox’s Bazar will not remain the same in the future."

Cox’s Bazar on the Global Stage

Dr. Yunus believes that by developing Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh can strengthen its position on the global stage. Establishing it as an international tourism hub would not only generate foreign currency but also create employment opportunities for many people.

Conclusion

Addressing university students, he said, "Take care of your homeland, protect Cox’s Bazar, and only then will you be able to achieve something big in the future."

Dr. Yunus’s speech deeply resonated with the audience and sparked renewed discussions on the importance of preserving Cox’s Bazar.
