Priyanka Gandhi, the general secretary of India's opposition political party Congress, has expressed concern over the arrest and denial of bail by the court of Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, spokesperson of the Sammilita Sanatani Jagran Jote and the principal of Pundarik Dham. She expressed this concern in a message on social media X on Wednesday.
The Congress leader cited the arrest of ISKCON priest Chinmoy Krishna Das in a sedition case as a worrying example of the increasingly frightening environment. In a message on X, Priyanka Gandhi said, "The 'ongoing violence' against Hindus in neighboring Bangladesh is very worrying."
She said, "The news of the arrest of the ISKCON temple saint in Bangladesh and the continued violence against minority Hindus is very worrying. I urge the central government to intervene in this matter and strongly raise the issue of ensuring the safety of minorities in Bangladesh with the government of Bangladesh.’’
Earlier on the same day, the Congress also issued a statement expressing deep concern over the arrest of Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari in a sedition case. The statement expressed concern over the “insecurity” of religious minorities in Bangladesh.
